While recognizing the need to reduce unwanted fertility, Population Welfare department is providing Family Planning and Reproductive Health Services to married couples through static and out-reach services in the province. The department mainly focuses on birth spacing & mother and child health care and for bringing balance between population increase and socio-economic well-being. Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recognizing the importance of Population dynamics in the development planning also acknowledges the need to reduce the rate and incidence of unwanted fertility through use of contraceptives, promote balance between family size and their resources, invest in the youth by maintaining a focus on the male population vis-à-vis behaviour change and awareness. Family planning is one of the most cost efficient intervention for maintaining a balance between population increase and socio-economic well-being of the population.
