Family Welfare Centers (FWCs)

  • The Family Welfare Center (FWC) is core unit and corner stone of the main service delivery networks of the Program housed in rented premises in urban and rural areas. 
  • The services provided through the static facility and by arranging satellite clinics among dispersed population. 
  • The scope of work of the FWC includes provision of the following functions. 
  • Promotion of Healthy timing and spacing of pregnancy (HTSP) for at least 3 years. 
  • Family Planning, counseling, services and follow-up for FP methods except implants and contraceptive surgery. 
  • MCH services through static as well as through satellite clinics. 
  • Infant health care including nutritional advice, growth monitoring and treatment of common ailments. 
  • Regular health education sessions on topics of the community to create awareness on small family norms, female literacy, human rights and gender equity. 
  • Orientation sessions for elected female counselors on topics such as family planning, population and development gender equity and status of women in Islam. 
  • Availability of contraceptives, medicines and other supplies and maintaining equipment in good working condition. 
  • Referrals of hard core cases of family planning, infertility, HIV/AIDs and those seeking contraceptive surgery/implants to appropriate facility.
  • There are total 682 Family Welfare Centers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 40 located in newly merged districts.

PRICES: All services including Contraceptives and Medicines are provided free of Cost both at the facility and domiciliary. Chit money of Rs.10 is charged at the static facilities only.
